yes, you're right. setting default options on settings page doesn't alter already existent widgets, once I ticked "nofollow" in each widget it worked fine. still the widget-title and feed links are not "nofollow". thanks again, I have a put a link to your site from my wordpress category and will write a post on better rss after wp2.9 is released.

I tested the rel="nofollow" on three sites today and it seems to work in both the shortcode and the widgets for me. I assume of course you checked the box on the widget setup, but do you have any other plugins that filter RSS feeds that might be causing the issue? The function I use to retrieve and display RSS is exactly the same function bundled with Wordpress, with some modifications.

I see what you mean about the excerpt suffix. The plugin checks to see if an option is set and if not adds a default suffix. Perhaps I should add a checkbox to disable the excerpt for those that want nothing. For now your workaround of &nbsp does the trick.

I just discovered 2 things on my other site.
1. the rel="nofollow" works perfectly when using shortcodes, not the widget.
2. the option "What to add after the excerpt" can be made blank by inserting & n b s p ; (without spaces of course, inserted them here as noticed your bb changes code).

Thanks mate.

Thanks for your updates Grand, I have just upgraded ver 1.6 and found 3 things:
1. I set the option to "nofollow" on settings page and even though it shows active, the rel="nofollow" does not appear in the pages' html source - it should appear like so: <a rel='nofollow' class='rsswidget' ...
2. The option "What to add after the excerpt" works fine, but defaults to […] or [...] when made blank on settings page.
3. The link target for the feed, the rss icon appears as target='', that is the _blank is missing.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I am on Wordpress MU latest version.
Thanks again for your sweet widget.

Yes, I caught that little bug and removed it in 1.3, then I saw your idea of the nofollow tag, so I added an option to add those and released version 1.4. Then I kept reading about the [hellip;] you don't like so I added an option to change or remove that, and also an option to set the excerpt length, then released it as version 1.5. I really SHOULD read all suggestions before releasing version. Thank you for the suggestions.

I just upgraded to latest 1.2 version and found all feed widget showing "hide the title?" at the top, I went in and edited the line in better-rss-widget.php, to remove the text and leave as print"hide_title" only no other text. looks good now.

Don't know if you want to implement these ideas, but each time I upgrade, I edit the line <a class='rsswidget' ... to read <a rel='nofollow' class='rsswidget' ... as I like most external links to be nofollow. I also remove the [hellip;] off end of summary as I think it looks cleaner.

Thanks for your sweet widget!
